JAVA SERVLETS. Java
Servlets provide web developers with a simple, consistent mechanism
for extending the functionality of a web server and for accessing
existing business systems. Servlets are protocol and platform-independent
server-side components, written in Java, that dynamically extend Java-enabled
servers, without the performance limitations of CGI programs. They
have access to the entire family of Java APIs, including the JDBCTM
